Introduction

I suppose if I needed to answer a question as to why I am doing this, I might point to a sojourn of sorts, that through writing my thoughts I can perhaps exercise my appreciation of the written word and my need to maintain a semblance of sanity. I love the idea that I can explore myself and figure out where I stand in the world by writing my reactions to and thoughts on controversies, norms and nuances in the world

In the beginning, I started "meditating" on various issues surrounding the topics of pop culture, politics, religion and anything else worth having an opinion on in the world I live in. They all started with one of my best friends who shared with me an interest in seeing the world and taking it not just for face value but trying to apply a little common sense in the interpretation.

A few reminders, some of these are dated on current events from months ago, so chronologically speaking, they are very out of wack. No, I do not do this regularly, but typically these stem from what I read in newspapers or plastered across magazines. They all come to me in their own context and as such I am tracking down and editing whichever ones are on my old phone or lost in emails, so don't expect a perfect chronology of events.

I Can't Stand Un-Beliebers

I am so sick of Justin Bieber. Not just the pisant of a musician, but the culture and counter-culture. I've honestly had it. The more you hate on something, the stronger it gets, thus I accepted his appearance in my one and only life and moved on. I ignored him when I could and I can only guess that I was at least somewhat successful since I no longer felt outrage and bile in my throat when I heard his atrocities to the musical world. The other day he was arrested for a DUI, which he will likely receive only a slap on the wrist and everyone is rushing to condemn him or support him. He is a celebrity, the normal laws won't apply to him. So, in reverse order, his supporters. Let's face it, if you love Justin Bieber so much that you think drinking and driving is defendable, you likely aren't high in IQ and thus have no right to a legitimate opinion because I'm willing to bet you have never bothered to open a book that didn't have a picture on every page or any book that's outside the "teen interests" section of a bookstore. Either that, or you are one of the parasites who stand to profit from whoring out this celebutard/brat. Now onto his haters; shut up, OK? He's not the first overindulged brat to be thrust in a world where intelligence is denounced and you hang with half-wits like Kanye West. Let's face it, Charlie Sheen said it best when he referenced the adage of "if at first you don't succeed, then try, try again," and he said that no one tells you what to do if at first you succeed. I'm not saying this as a defense, I'm saying this because Lindsay Lohan has been pulling the same stunts for years and recently so has Amanda Bynes. Even Britney Spears can be roped into this. He is not the first. Should the judge seek to make an example of him and start cracking down on celebrities and wealthy people all around who act as though they're above the law? Here's a heap of extra strength vitamin duh. But it won't happen.

 We are dealing with a former teenage heartthrob who is on his way out. He is of a single parent house, when I saw her years ago his mom did actually look hot by the way, and likely was overindulged when she was able to afford him any time. I wouldn't be surprised if the YouTube account was her idea. In summary, celebs are still above the law, and voicing hatred of him is going to keep him in the public eye because there is no such thing as bad publicity. Let him fade, ignore him and the rabid cult of his fanbase, let them drink the Kool aid and whine when he's found bloated and drowned in a puddle of his own excrement. As for me? I'm just going to carry on, doing my best to ignore him and his hype because one day, my generation will forget him.

Whoring It Up With the Kardashians

Kylie and Kendall Jenner, the 2 young, teenaged siblings of Kim/Kloe/Kourtney Kardashian are supposedly acting out and behaving wildly by doing drugs, partying etc. The speculation for this on the cover of the rag magazines, henceforth known as rags at the risk of insulting the very definition of rag, is that it is in response to the supposed divorce of Kris and Bruce Jenner. Here's a thought; why not admit that they're the children of fame-whore celebrities and washed up olympians who peaked years ago and are trying to keep their fame afloat via scandal and whore-ish behaviours, and only have their 3 less than ideal role-model sisters to look up to. The biggest reason the family is so famous is Kim and her rampant, serial monogamy with every famous black guy, Kris Humphries notwithstanding. If it weren't for her sex tape, the family wouldn't have a TV show. Kim has shown to be a successful business woman, but codependency with money/fame has led her to stupid public stunts, dating Kanye West, and a baby apparently... When was the last time we heard about NorthEast South West, or whatever that poor thing's name is..? Anyways. Back to Kylie and Kendall. These 2 have basically had to raise themselves with komplete (I'm trying to keep up with their k-theme) lack of intelligence outside of how to keep in the spotlight so you can act like a complete jackass and, to quote Denis Leary, celebutard while still collecting an obscene paycheque which could feed an african country and not actually doing an honest day's work. They may be acting in response to the divorce sure, most teenagers will because it is an undeniable emotional upheaval, but the girls don't know how to be a healthy individual, can you really blame them?

Misplaced Priorities and How Hot is Kate Middleton

Before I get started, let me disclaim that given the chance, I would gladly have a go with Kate Middleton, that woman is an incredible combination of sex appeal and elegance, so I am aware of the presence of potentially perceived hypocrisy in my statement. To rectify this, here is my disclaimer; I'm not denouncing the sexual objectification of her body, but rather the focus surrounding her recent deliverance of the new prince.

It occurs to me that 3 months after giving birth, many moms would be struggling with losing the baby-weight and trying to find the self-esteem required to like what they see in the mirror. The baby has been born and now mom can also try making a little time for herself to feel better. But in a recent charity event, Kate was photographed playing volleyball and looked, insanely hot. Let's be honest, that woman is stunning. But in 2 months, I have not heard much or even seen many headlines surrounding the royal family besides who is and isn't gay, who's getting divorced and who's stabbing who in the back. So, the lovely duchess was bound to appear sooner or later, presumably what her & the baby were up to. Instead, all we're hearing is how great she looks. Who's shocked by how incredible this young, genetically gifted and privileged woman looks? Let's break down my issue into two parts;
1) The most recent point I made about her post-birth looks. 3 months is plenty of time for an athlete to improve their shape, and oh she was an athlete. She also has incredible genetics and privilege on her side. Should she so choose, she could in fact have minor surgery done to enhance her appearance and what natural beauty she already had. This is a rare case of a woman who also has enough "babysitters" to watch her bundle of joy and not have to worry about making dinner or dealing with the tedium of day-to-day life. If she wasn't in killer shape again, I'd be amazed to be honest. But its unfair to make it seem that every new mom can do this when, in reality, many women are permanently changed physically by child birth. Then tack on real world responsibility and voila!, you have a duchess.
2) Why are her looks what matter most? At 3 months post-baby, shouldn't we be asking how Prince George is holding up? Has he tumbled at all yet? Is he causing trouble? Making messes? Is he a normal child?! Or will he be locked in a french cathedral to forever ring the bells...
How messed up is the society that eagerly awaited this baby's arrival that we can focus more on how little he tarnished his mother's body and not on his well being?
